CONSERVATION OF SCLATER’S GUENON, A HIGHLY ENDANGERED SPECIE ENDERMIC TO NIGERIA AND BEE FARMING

This project is about habitat conservation/ restoration of Sclater’s guenon, (a highly endangered specie of monkey that is endemic to Nigeria). According to the world conservation union (IUCN 2002) Sclater’s guenon is one of the African species considered to face the greatest degree of threats.
As part of the project members of the community shall be educated on importance of wildlife conservation and on Bee keeping practices for sustainable livelihood,(a community bee farm shall be set up).Bee keeping is one of the economic projects that helps a lot in habitat conservation and at the same time in livelihood enhancement of people in rural communities. Some trees shall also be planted in highly deforested areas.
The project is armed at ensuring future survival of Sclaters guenon, (a highly endangered specie) and improvement of
livelihood of members of the sclater’s guenon host communities.
JUSTIFICATION OF THE PROJECT
